On the Road Again (and home, and one year down!)

So much to say! For starters, I survived finals week (we had 8 finals this go) and I am 14 of the way to becoming a veterinarian!!!! I say it ever post, it is INSANE how fast time files. Everyone told me when I started school that the next four years would be a blur, and they were not lying.

Once the school year wrapped up (I finished my finals on the 16th), Jake and I quickly packed up the car and drove back to Colorado because Jake had a work meeting that he had to attend in person. The drive smooth, and very pretty. We saw a lot of wildlife: bear, moose, various birds of prey (the coolest being an osprey with a freshly caught fish, flying overhead), caribou, bison, fox, and a few more I am probably forgetting. At one point on the second day we saw 17 black bears in an hour and half of driving.

Here are a couple pictures of me studying for finals. Chihiro likes to supervise, and I had Game of Thrones on the brain while studying bacteriology. picture picture

After finals, I went to a BBQ at one of my classmate’s place. The sunset was beautiful (and it basically happened at midnight). picture

And then we set out on the road!

Here is Jake taking the first leg out of Fairbanks and Maya gearing up for the trip. picture picture

Just outside of Fairbanks, still in Alaska. picture picture

After crossing the boarder into Canada, in the Yukon Territory. It’s beautiful out there. picture picture picture

We stopped at a little cafe to take a break. No cell service here! Also, this might be the only place to get gas (or really to see anyone) in a hundred miles. picture

And settled into a hotel for the night. Chihiro loves exploring hotel rooms. We have been calling her adventure cat because she totally loves exploring new places (I am not convinced she is a cat anymore). picture picture

If you haven’t noticed by now, all of my pictures are from inside the car. My bad! We just didn’t stop a whole lot because we were on a mission to get back quickly.

I think at this point we may have crossed into British Columbia… picture

Maya was storing a chip for later. picture

Here starts our many sightings of bears. They were all black bears, but there were so many, and they were HUGE! picture

At some point we crossed into Alberta, and then back into the US. Finally we got closer, and Wyoming welcomed us home with snow! picture

And home at last! I am so glad we got back to see Colorado’s green month. It so beautiful here right now. Here is a picture a few minute from our house. I am so lucky to call this place home. picture

That was a long post, time for a break. Peace out bean sprout!
