Let's Start the Spring Semester
It’s two weeks into the spring semester of my first year of veterinary school and I already feel like life is flying by at light speed.
This semester I am taking Neurobiology, Virology, Parasitology, Bacteriology and Mycology, Biology of Disease I (aka Pathology), Nutrition and Metabolism, Foundations of Veterinary Medicine, and Food Animal Production, along with Skeleton Articulation and a wellness class as electives. Yet, this semester does not seem as intense (or at least way more manageable). I’ll keep you posted on that as the semester progresses.
In the mean time, here are a few pictures from the past two weeks.
Maya thinks it’s cold. Very cold in fact. It’s been below 20 a few times since we got back.
We bought her a sale pair of booties so she could continue to run with us, even when it gets really cold. She isn’t a huge fan of the boots, but I think she likes going outside more than she hates wearing them.
One of the perks of being in Fairbanks for vet school is that our class was given the opportunity to participate in the pre-race veterinary checks for the Yukon Quest race. It was such a fun day! I got to meet local veterinarians and technicians, the mushers, and their amazing athletes!

And of course, my mom and dad sent me cookies for my birthday.
Last but not least, another “only in Alaska” moment. I woke up this morning to temps of 20 below zero. A bit later, I look outside our apartment only to find our neighbor grilling behind his truck, and it’s still 20 below…
I’ll try to be better about posting weekly from now on. Until next time! ~Angela
